WAIMEA — Four Waimea greats will be the second class entered into the Menhune Legacy Hall of Honor Saturday at Waimea High School.
Richard “Mr. Menehune” Doi, Melvin “Mr. Perfect Game” Chiba, “Waimea Wonder Woman” Marlo Louis-Medeiros and Charles “Mr. Connection” Shimomura will be entered into the Hall of Honor by the Menehune Booster Club.
This is the second year of the Hall of Honor. The Hall was founded last year with Melvin Tsuchya and Edward Ho making up the inaugural class.
The hall is dedicated to recognizing any athlete, coach or booster who has contributed to the Menehune symbol of spirit and tradition, states a news release from the Menehune Booster Club.
The induction will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Waimea High School front lawn. Tickets for the event are $25. Anyone interested in contributing to the Menehune Booster Club or purchasing tickets can call Waimea Athletics Director Jon Kobayashi at 338-6800, ext. 175.
