Taylor Viquelia of Koloa, Daezsa Tomas of Lihu‘e and Ginny Latham of Koloa will represent Kaua‘i when the U.S. Women’s Amateur Sectional Qualifier tees off Friday at the Po‘ipu Bay Golf Course starting at 7 a.m.
The players, including two from California, Kristina Lynn of Carlsbad, and Nina Fairbairn of Orinda, and two from the Philippines, Sarah Jane Ababa of Davao City and Princess Mary Superal of Dasmarinas Cavite, will be playing a par 72, 6,117-yard course while vying for three spots and two alternate spots.
The 18-hole qualifying event is one of approximately 20 to be held around the United States over the next few weeks.
Top players from each sectional qualifier advance directly to the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship which will be played Aug. 6 through 12 at The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio.
Players from Honolulu include Alice Kim, Hansol Koo, Allisen Corpuz, Kacie Komoto, Margaret Min, Keilyn Ing, Alina Ching, Marissa Chow, Cyd Okino, Kristina Merkle, Eimi Koga, Lisa Kang, Michelle Condry and Aiko Leong.
Other players in the field include Anna Jang of Aiea, Ciera Min of Hilo, Brittany Fan of Pearl City, Mariel Galdiano of Pearl City, Britney Yada of Hilo, and Bianca Armanini of Wailuku.
