LIHU‘E — Lisa Allen Smith will provide an overview of the legislative process and an update on the 2012 legislative session when she addresses the Zonta Club of Kaua‘i during its next meeting on July 5 at the Regency at Puakea in the Activities room.

Smith was appointed by Gov. Neil Abercrombie to serve as Kaua‘i’s representative to the Hawai‘i State Commission for the Status of Women in 2011. The commission was established to recommend legislative action on equal treatment and opportunities for women.
The commission also seeks to create public awareness and understanding of the responsibilities, needs and contributions of women and their roles in the changing society.
Smith is also the ex officio on the County of Kaua‘i Commission for the Status of Women and has served on that commission for five years.
She was also co-chair for the Kaua‘i League of Women Voters in 2007.
Smith has been the County of Kaua‘i’s Coastal Zone Management Planner for four years. She is a member of the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Planners.
