WAINIHA — The body of a 40-year-old Wainiha man was found near his SUV just north of the Lumaha‘i Bridge on Kuhio Highway, according to the Kaua‘i Police Department.
Police closed Kuhio Highway in both directions, between Lumaha‘i Bridge and the Wainiha General store, at 11:16 a.m. Tuesday. It was reopened shortly after 3 p.m. after the body was moved to the mortuary.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, according to a county press release.
The incident remains under investigation but foul play is not suspected at this time, according to the press release.
More information about the incident is expected to be released today. An autopsy will be scheduled to help determine the cause of death.
