Team Kialoa of Lihu‘e, coached by Francis Takasaki, became the first youth fast pitch softball team to participate, and win, in the American Softball Association 12 and Under State Championships, recently. Team Kialoa, after winning the Kaua‘i 12U double elimination tournament in May, played seven games on O‘ahu, suffering a loss in the elimination round, but working its way out of the losers’ bracket and taking back-to-back wins against the Iolani Red Raiders, 12-1 and 9-1 to claim the championship. Team members include Haylee Raquel-Garcia, Saebre Kaleiohi, Hilarie Marcelino, Angelie Dacuycuy, Tia Rego, Tia Takasaki, Justice Funamura-Sasil, Sabrina Telles-Kelekoma, Cheyenne Fujii, Shailee Telles-Kelekoma and Chailee Sauceda. Coaches include Francis Takasaki, Rod Sasil and Jason Agustin.
