WAINIHA — Police are recovering the body of a 40-year-old Wainiha man who was found near his SUV just north of the Lumaha‘i Bridge on Kuhio Highway.
Police closed Kuhio Highway in both directions just after 11:16 a.m. between Lumaha‘i Bridge and the Wainiha General store. It was reopened at 3:08 p.m. after the body was removed to the mortuary.
County communications reports that the incident remains under investigation. They said foul play is not suspected at this time.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed and more informaiton about the the incident is expected to be released Wednesday. An autopsy was scheduled to help determine the man’s exact cause of death.
