KAPA‘A — The Kawaihau Majors All-Stars will draw a bye when the Little League District playoffs for the Majors division opens Friday at the New Kapa‘a Town Park Main Diamond, located on the baseyard end of the facility.
Ken Nagahisa, coach for the Kawaihau Majors All Stars said Kawaihau Community Little League will be hosting the District and as host, the Majors All-Stars draw the bye on the opening round.
Their first game will be at 10 a.m. Saturday when they face the winner of the Kaneohe-Kahalu‘u match from Friday.
Should the Kawaihau Majors All-Stars succeed in taking the District, the team will advance to the State Little League championships in Kailua, O‘ahu.
Nagahisa said a more complete District playoff schedule will be forthcoming.
Team members include Kade Kupihea, Ekolu Rivera, Brenton Garcia, Kaiona Nakamura-Makanani, Mo‘i Widrig-Goo, Keanu Camalliri, Keona Nakamura-Makanani, Kaliko Banquel, Kalenda Harder, Chayse Basuel, Leipua Kaui, Joel Deblin, Jayden Palenapa, Dustin Burdett.
Coaches in addition to Nagahisa include Aaron Kupihea and Ashkhon Kuhaulua.
