Maria Medina
Maria Santos Medina of ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i died on May 25, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. She was born to Ciriaco and Leonora on Oct. 22, 1928, in the Philippines. She was a retired corn field worker with Pioneer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Candido Lorenzo Medina; son, Orlando Medina; brother, Franciso Santos; and a sister, Leonarda Sugitan.
She is survived by her six sons, Nelson (Elizabeth) Medina of ‘Ele‘ele, Carlos (Wilma) Medina of ‘Ele‘ele, Limuel (Marcelina) Medina of Kaumakani, Arthur (Fe) Medina of Kaumakani, Edmond (Mylene) Medina of Kaumakani and Litho (Charlene) Medina of Koloa; three daughters, Estrella (Faustino) Fernando of ‘Ele‘ele, Marilyn (Arnold) Corpuz of Kaumakani and Leony Medina of Kaumakani; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Genaro Santos Sr. of the Philippines; and a sister, Feliciana Santos of the Philippines. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, at the Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Family suggests casual attire.

Marty Sanders
Marty Craig Sanders of Kalaheo died on March 12, 2012 in Cary, North Carolina.
Born on July 10, 1955, Marty was a long time Kaua‘i resident. After retiring from the construction industry in 2005, Marty enjoyed long walks with his dog, Clint, and playing golf with friends at Kukuiolono.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley Sanders and Rachel Page Sanders.
He is survived by his brother, John Sanders of Moraga, California.
Private services were held.
Wendy Valentine
Wendy Valentine was enchanted by Kaua‘i and loved sharing art, yoga, music and her angelic voice with the island’s keiki and community. She loved and was loved by many and she will be missed.
On Sunday, July 1 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Pinetrees Beach, Hanalei there will be a paddle out for Ceremony of Ashes. The ceremony will be by Tom and D’lissa Ianucci; music by Kirk Smart, Blossom Ko, Cary Valentine, Goddess Chant Choir, Violet Asuncion and “Boogie Down” with The Quake. We are asking if you can please carpool as parking is limited. and use Hanalei Courthouse for overflow parking.
There will be a community potluck after ceremony. Please bring main dishes and desserts and BYOB.

Raymond Duvauchelle
Raymond Pihaleo Duvauchelle of Koloa, Kaua‘i passed away on June 20, 2012 at his residence in Koloa at the age of 84.
He was Born in ‘Ele‘ele on February 18, 1928. Raymond was a retired police officer for the County of Kaua‘i. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alice Duvauchelle.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Josephine Duvauchelle; sons, Ray (Cathy) Duvauchelle; Dr. Douglas Duvauchelle; Joe Rae (Rodney) Baptiste; Sheryl (Cedric) Ramos; 10 grandchilden and 1 great grandchild.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, July 7 at 9 a.m. Koloa Union Church, mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Hanapepe Veterans Cemetery.
