terscholastic Federation reached a two-year deal with H. Hawai‘i Media earlier this month to broadcast sporting events live on JAMZ 98.1, H. Hawai‘i Media General Manager Anthony Defazio said.
In addition to KIF sports, Defazio said University of Hawai‘i football games will be broadcast live on Rooster Country 99.9 beginning with the Warriors’ season opener on Sept. 1 against University of Southern California.
“We got tremendous feedback after having the UH game on the radio last year,” Defazio said. “A lot of people were thankful we decided to put it on the radio.”
Defazio said while the main focus of the KIF coverage will continue to be on football, basketball and baseball, he plans on expanding over the next two years. The first implementation will begin this fall with a weekly volleyball game over the air.
