Donney Gregg
Donney Jo “Smokey” Gregg died on April 28, 2012, in Texas at the age of 66. He was born on June 25, 1945, in Santa Cruz, Calif. He was retired. He was a competitive boxer, accomplished jeweler, retired Coast Guard and Merchant Seaman, and dedicated husband, brother and friend.
He was preceded in death by Walter Budd Gregg, Lillian Frances Gregg and Dick Stephen Gregg.
He is survived by wife Graceosa Gregg and siblings Tonya Keaton, Michael Gregg, David Gregg, Dorothy Nakazawa, Doralene Gregg, William Soza and Darrell Soza. He has six children, George, David, Donney, Holly, Alexandria and Chanowa, as well as grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will take place Saturday at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church at 3 p.m. Family suggests casual attire. In lieu of Donney Gregg.
George Ohama
George Satoru Ohama of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on March 9, 2012, at the age of 88. He was born in ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i on June 18, 1923, and retired as a law enforcement officer with Kaua‘i Police Department.
He is survived by his son, Ross Ohama of Lihu‘e; daughter, Ruth Ohama of Lihu‘e; sisters, Dora Sato of Lihu‘e and Hilda Ohama of Honolulu; brother, Stanley Ohama of Salt Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousin.
Private services were held.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Ohama family with arrangements.
Maria Medina
Maria Santos Medina of ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i died on May 25, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. She was born to Ciriaco and Leonora on Oct. 22, 1928, in the Philippines. She was a retired corn field worker with Pioneer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Candido Lorenzo Medina; son, Orlando Medina; brother, Franciso Santos; and a sister, Leonarda Sugitan.
She is survived by her six sons, Nelson (Elizabeth) Medina of ‘Ele‘ele, Carlos (Wilma) Medina of ‘Ele‘ele, Limuel (Marcelina) Medina of Kaumakani, Arthur (Fe) Medina of Kaumakani, Edmond (Mylene) Medina of Kaumakani and Litho (Charlene) Medina of Koloa; three daughters, Estrella (Faustino) Fernando of ‘Ele‘ele, Marilyn (Arnold) Corpuz of Kaumakani and Leony Medina of Kaumakani; 27 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; a brother, Genaro Santos Sr. of the Philippines; and a sister, Feliciana Santos of the Philippines. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, at the Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Family suggests casual attire.

Charlotte Thompson
Charlotte J. Thompson of Kilauea died on June 4, 2012, after a brief illness. She was born on March 22, 1916, in New Castle, Pa. Charlotte lived a long life, maintained her independence and wonderful sense of humor. Charlotte’s love and dedication to her family was the source of her strength and happiness.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Col. Dick W. Thompson; two sons, Richard Scott and James Thompson; and sister, Sarah Eleanor McGinnis.
She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Thompson and Suzanne Thompson Pond of Kilauea; brothers Robert Confer of Colonia, N.J., and William Confer of Medina, Ohio; granddaughters, Alexandra and Kieren Pond; and various nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date at her home in Kilauea.

Spencer Gushiken
Spencer Tsuyoshi Gushiken of Kilauea died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 14, 2012, at the age of 64. He was born in Kilauea, Kaua‘i on Jan. 10, 1948, and was employed as a pest control technician with Garden Island Termite.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tokumatsu Gushiken.
He is survived by his mother, Kikue Gushiken; four brothers, Jack (Sharon) Gushiken, Alan Gushiken, Ralph (Jill) Gushiken and Leslie (Donna) Gushiken; nieces and nephews, Lynne, Clyne (Eva), Lee, Cari Maile, Michael and Grant; grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Kevin (Micki), Jayden, Jennifer, Andjela, Kiana and Russell; and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Kilauea with visitation from 9 a.m. and services celebrated at 11 a.m.

Kiyome Iwamoto
Kiyome Takekuma Iwamoto of Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i, died on June 12, 2012, at Mahelona Medical Center at the age of 89. Born on July 26, 1922, in Kukuila, Kaua‘i, she was a fry cook with Waiohai.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ichiji Iwamoto.
She is survived by her two sons, Walter (May) Iwamoto of Chino Hills, Calif., and Wilfred Iwamoto of California; four daughters, Vivian (Gary) Lee of Mililani, O‘ahu, Nancy Nascimento of Texas, Blanch Matsuda of Texas and Judy (Gary) Michioka of Kapa‘a; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Chiyono Sukisaki of ‘Ele‘ele and Mary Kurihara of California.
Services will be held on Monday at the Kaua‘i Soto Zen in Hanapepe. Visitation will be at 3 p.m, and service to follow at 4 p.m.

Fausto Pacio
Fausto Tadina Pacio died on June 13, 2012, at the age of 101. He was born on Sept. 5, 1910, in the Philippines. He was an irrigation worker and a carpenter with Kekaha Sugar Co.
He is survived by his wife, Francisca M. Pacio; Munar Family of Honolulu; Gubaton Family of Kaumakani; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sevices will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kekaha Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Family suggests casual attire and that flowers be omitted.

Ester Dizon Ramos
Ester Dizon Ramos of Hanama‘ulu, Kaua‘i passed away at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 17, 2012. Born on Dec. 26, 1947, in the Philippines, she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her son Jorge Ramos.
She is survived by her husband Florencio Ramos; daughters, Tessie (Edward) Edurise and Elisa Ramos; sons, Pedro (Udy-Lynn) Ramos and Ruben (Florenda) Ramos; 12 grandchildren; and two sisters and three brothers in the Philippines.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Cremation to follow.

Mariano A. Dela Cruz of Kaumakani, Kaua‘i passed away on June 10, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hosptial at the age of 100. He was born on July 21, 1911, in the Philippines. He was a laborer for the sugar plantation.
He was survived by his wife, Estrella Dela Cruz; sons, William (Regina) Dela Cruz, Peterson (Jean) Dela Cruz, Reynold Dela Cruz, Orlando (Remy) Dela Cruz, Nelson (Tessie) Dela Cruz, Christopher Dela Cruz, Robert Dela Cruz, Brandon (Hana) Dela Cruz; daughter, Mary Ann Dela Cruz; step-daughter, Elizabeth Lorenzana; brother, Connie (Connie) Dela Cruz; sister, Filomena of Tumamao, Philippines; 35 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Friends may visit the family on Friday, June 29 at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel, Koloa. Visitation will be from 6 p.m to 9 p.m and again on Saturday, June 30, at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church, Kekaha. Monico V. Viernes of Hanama‘ulu, Kaua‘i passed away on June 15, 2012, at Garden Isle Healthcare at the age of 98. He was born on Feb. 12, 1914, in the Philippines. He was a retired laborer for the sugar industry.
Monico is survived by his wife, Albina Viernes; son, Michael (Victoria) Viernes of Honolulu; two grandchildren, Megan and Micah; two brothers, Patrocinio (Agripina) Viernes and Adriano (Jovita) Viernes; and numerous relatives.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, July 3 at Immaculate Conception Church from 8 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.

Tokie Tanimoto of Koloa, Kaua‘i passed away on June 15, 2012, at Hale Kupuna Heritage Home at the age of 90. She was born on April 27, 1922, on the island of Ni‘ihau. She was a retired nurse at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Y. Tanimoto.
Tokie is survived by her son, Alan Lyons of Portland, Ore.; Claire (Ken) Yamagata of Ewa Beach, O‘ahu; Marla (Greg) Stein, Fairfax, Va.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Celebration of her life will be held privately.

David Haili Kaawa Jr., 86, of Wai‘ohinu, O‘ahu, passed away on May 23, 2012, at his residence. Born in Kukuiopa‘e, Hawa‘i, on Feb. 23, 1926, he was a retired grader operator for the Ka‘u Sugar Company, a cowboy and farmer.
Friends may visit at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Na‘alehu for a 10 a.m. funeral service; burial to follow at Na‘alehu County Cemetery.
The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.
