Spencer Gushiken
Spencer Tsuyoshi Gushiken of Kilauea died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on June 14, 2012, at the age of 64. He was born in Kilauea, Kaua‘i on Jan. 10, 1948, and was employed as a Pest Control Technician with Garden Island Termite.
He was preceded in death by his father, Tokumatsu Gushiken.
He is survived by his mother, Kikue Gushiken; four brothers, Jack (Sharon) Gushiken, Alan Gushiken, Ralph (Jill) Gushiken and Leslie (Donna) Gushiken; nieces and nephews, Lynne, Clyne (Eva), Lee, Cari Maile, Michael and Grant; grand-nieces and grand-nephews, Kevin (Micki), Jayden, Jennifer, Andjela, Kiana and Russell; and numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at Christ Memorial Episcopal Church in Kilauea with visitation from 9 a.m. and services celebrated at 11 a.m.
Kauai Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home assisted the Gushiken family with arrangements.
Donna Joiner
Donna Marie Joiner, 50, of ‘Ewa Beach, O‘ahu, died on June 8, 2012, at Pali Momi Medical Center. She was born in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i. She was a Registered Nurse for Straub Clinic and Hospital.
She is survived by husband, Alan J. Joiner of ‘Ewa Beach; brothers Stanley (Alicia) Viquelia of Kaua‘i, Jerry (Nadine) Viquelia of ‘Ewa Beach and Donald Viquelia of Kaua‘i; sisters Anita (Robert) Salvador of California, Geraldine (Elicio) Bolosan of Kaua‘i and Debbie (Charles) Zanders of California.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at Nu‘uanu Memorial Park and Mortuary; service at 10:30 a.m.; burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery. Casual attire recommended.
Helen Martin
Helen E. Martin died at the age of 87 on March 17, 2011. She was born in Gardner, Mass., on June 23, 1923. The 13 grandchildren of Helen E. Martin will all come together for the first time in 10 years to host “the Celebration of Life” of their beloved Tutu on Saturday, June 23.
Helen was known by all as a giver, always putting the needs of others before her own, sharing her love and delicious cooking with those she touched. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reginald G. Martin. She is survived by her five children and 13 grandchildren, Richard Martin (Lila, Alex, Tamra), Kenneth (Ruthie) Martin (Maile, Kaleo, La’akea, Sam, Sarah and Joshua), Jon Martin, Kathryn Martin (Sebastian and Naomi) and Susan (Randy) Keller (Ginger Keller and Sage Keller).

Helen Bukoski
Helen S. Bukoski of Kalaheo, Kaua‘i, died on June 13, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veteran’s Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. Born on Dec. 16, 1924, in Koloa, Kaua‘i, she was a seamstress.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Bukoski; parents, Frank G. Silva and Julia S. Silva; two brothers, Frank and Tony Silva; and two sisters, Julia Orsatelli and Theresa Olson.
She is survived by her two sons, Howard Bukoski and Clifford (Linda) Bukoski, both of Kalaheo; one daughter, Annette (Burt) Hadama of O’mao; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private services will be held.

Epifania Curammeng
Epifania “Fanny” “Paning” Palacay Curammeng of Makaweli, Kaua‘i, died on June 7, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veteran’s Memorial Hospital at the age of 80. She was born on Jan. 18, 1932, in ‘Ewa, O‘ahu. She was a seamstress with Kay O’Kaua‘i and ‘Iolani Sportswear. She was a well-known seamstress on the Westside of Kaua‘i, sewing Pop Warner cheerleader uniforms, as well as hula halau attire for kumu hula Roselle Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ismael Laguatan Curammeng; parents, Santiago and Tomasa Palacay; and a sister, Loretta Ravelo.
She is survived by her five daughters, Esther (Cleve) V. Carpenter of Denver, Colo.; Elmafania Curammeng of Federal Way, Wash.; Norma Lynn Browning of Honolulu; Mercedes (Lance) M. Fujimura of ‘Ele‘ele; and Maryalice (Francis) Curammeng-Park of Honolulu; two hanai daughters, Dina (Mark) Hall of Scotia, Calif.; Diane (Robert) White of Kapolei, Honolulu; five grandchildren, John Marc Carpenter, Brandon (Katherine “Kapua”) M.W. Browning, Paul Andrew Carpenter, Garion I.Y. Park, and Amlan Kazuo Fujimura; four great-grandchildren, Makana, Mia, Micah and Mino‘aka; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held on Saturday, June 16, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel in Lawa‘i. Arrangements were by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
