Pono Tokioka won the Round of 32, 4 and 3, over Michael Shomoko and will be teeing off at 7 a.m. as the Round of 16 starts at the 104th Manoa Cup on O‘ahu.
Tokioka is one of two Kaua‘i golfers, including Cory Oride, a Kaua‘i High School graduate playing with the University of Hawai‘i program.
Jonathan Ota of Lihu‘e, the third Kaua‘i golfer, took the Round of 64, 6 and 5 over Andre Debard, Tuesday but fell to Shawn Lu, 5 and 4 Wednesday during the Round of 32.
Tokioka, a strong Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation golfer, opening his Round of 64 with a 4 and 3 win over Henry Park, advancing to meet Shimoko in the Round of 32.
Oride opened with a 3 and 2 win over Kai Hayashida and advanced through the Round of 64 with a 3 and 2 win over Brent Grant to advance.
He meets Kyosuke Hara on a 7:35 a.m. tee time.
The Manoa Cup will play the quarterfinals and semifinals on June 15 with the final round going off on June 16.
