Harue Hirata Yamamoto of Koloa, Kaua‘i died on June 3, 2012, at the age of 94. She was born on January 6, 1918, in ‘Ele‘ele, Kaua‘i. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rikito Yamamoto, son John Yamamoto and grandson Quintan Yamamoto.
She is survived by her brother, Jukichi Hirata; two sons, Gary and Alan Yamamoto; a daughter, La Verne (David) Wada; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were privately held. Family requests no koden and no flowers.

David “Black Dog Dave” Stephen Salas, 58, died February 19, 2012, after an illness. The youngest child of Eugene and Doreen Salas of Castro Valley, he graduated from Castro Valley High School in 1971. His bold, adventurous spirit led him to travel the world, often on a shoestring, and Alaska, Guam, and South Korea were just a few of the places he explored and lived.
He spent nearly 20 years in the Hawaiian islands, his true spiritual home.
He is survived by his son Matthew, mother Doreen, granddaughter Madison, sister Sandra, brother Jene, and scores of friends.
