KILAUEA — Get ready for a night of movies, dinner and Christian music, not necessarily in that order. The Calvary Chapel North Shore is making sure this will be a summer to remember for families on Kaua‘i.
Every Wednesday until July 25, with the exception of the Fourth of July, the Old Kilauea Theatre will be showing a movie free of charge for the community.
But that’s not all. There is also food and music involved — and it’s all free.
“This is a way of giving back to our community and to bless anyone who chooses to come and enjoy a free meal, live music and a free movie,” said movie organizer Zina Hough, adding that “all are welcome.”
The family night starts at 5:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner, either a main dish or dessert. At 6:30 p.m. it’s time for live Christian music, and at 7 p.m. there will be a free movie.
Hough said those that can’t bring a dish to the potluck dinner should still come and enjoy the meal.
Well-known surfboard shaper and pastor Steve Rex is involved in this Calvary Chapel North Shore initiative, and he can be reached at 635-7075. Hough is also available to answer questions at 652-0358.
