WAIMEA — Waimea’s Jonathan Tangalin is taking his talents to the collegiate level.
The recently graduated Menehune was a multi-sport star for Waimea, but will play football at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore.
Tangalin will join a Boxer team that just completed its second year of existence at the NCAA Division III level. The Boxers struggled to a 1-8 record last season, but ended the season on a high note with a 44-25 win in its final home game against University of Puget Sound.
In addition to his football talents, Tangalin was a force on the volleyball court. As a setter for the Menehune, Tangalin was named the 2012 Boys Volleyball Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation Player of the Year. In the classroom, Tangalin graduated with a 3.59 GPA.
