Registration for the 7th Annual Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School Media Productions Class Golf Tournament fundraiser is currently being accepted for the June 10 tournament at the Wailua Golf Course.
Entry fee is $100 per golfer and includes green fees, cart rental, continental breakfast and luncheon at the King Kaumuali‘i Elementary School and a complimentary entry in the “On and Off the Green Contest.”
Registration starts at 6 a.m. June 10 with a shotgun start at 7 a.m.
Tournament format is individual low net and Peoria system with men being allowed a maximum handicap of 27 and women, a 36 handicap, the handicaps being established by KGA or USGA. Those without established handicaps will be in the Peoria flight.
Proceeds will benefit the CKMS Media Productions Class who, under Kevin Matsunaga, the instructor, has earned numerous awards, both at the state and national levels, including the recent announcement of Kasey Emoto earning Best Middle School Video at the HMSA Teen Video Awards for her “Curse of the Crinkling.” The piece also took first place at the Olelo Youth XChange Healthy Living and third place at the HMSA Teen Video Awards.
Laura Koga finished with the Mothers Against Drunk Driving Special Award for her “No Excuses” during the HMSA Teen Video Awards where “Wormie and Angry Words” by Lia Yamasato just missed the cut after earlier taking first place at the Olelo Youth XChange Animation where CKMS media students has seven videos selected as finalists in five categories.
Kailee Nii and Kaelee Esposo teamed for “Keep the Faith” to take first place at the Olelo Youth XChange – @21 Underage Drinking.
The CKMS Media Productions team also copped second place at the Student Television Network conference earlier in the year in Texas, the team also garnering second place for Spot Feature, first place for Movie Trailer and third place for Music Video.
The team also shares a partnership with FM97 Radio with its Inside Scoop program and is part of the PBS Hawai‘i’s Hiki No program where it produced five stories as well as a special piece on the Dalai Lama.

Completed forms and payment may also be dropped off at the Wailua Golf Course Starter Office.
Students in the 2012 class include Sharae Cua, Emoto, Esposo, Sierra Fernandez, Koga, Railee Layosa, Melanie Matsunaga, Tylynn Nakamura, Lindsey Nakea-Tresler, Nii, Danica Oda, Bailey Ritter, Mandy Sugihara, Cheyanne Tannery, Leanna Thesken, Lilly Thompson, Chase Tokita, Ava Wagner, and Yamasato.
