HANALEI — Holo Holo Charters will now give boat tours of the Na Pali Coast from the vantage point of a Hanalei departure.
Using the Ocean Adventurer, a 38-foot rigid inflatable raft with twin 225hp outboard motors, up to 25 riders can enjoy a speedy ride in a craft that can hug the coastline for more sightseeing and snorkeling time. Its a good alternative to the seven-hour Na Pali runs from Port Allen, if not just more picturesque.
Guests show up at the office at 8 a.m. and are shuttled out to the Ocean Adventurer by dinghy and are back by 1 p.m. The trip adds more time for sightseeing and more things to see, according to Holo Holo Charters President Kevin Millet.
“Its a much better trip this way,” said Millet. “Leaving out of the Hanalei River is like a scene out of an epic movie from the get-go. “Its a magical trip.”
The magnificent views from the start and then straight to the ocean along the north coast. Watching the wildlife and rock formations all along the way, its important to bring extra digital cards and batteries for the camera.
There will be a chance to snorkel and a sandwich lunch is served with soft drinks or water. It is a small boat but there is a rest room.
“It’s a fantastic ride,” Millet said. “The boat has great motion and has very comfortable seating. Its fast and one of the big things is that it has over the other boats is shaded seating from the sun.
Bring some sunblock, a bathing suit and windbreaker, and towels. If you suffer from motion sickness, bring some natural supplements.
The boat provides dry bags for cameras and valuables, snorkeling gear and masks.
