LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i native and former University of Hawai‘i football player Vaughn Meatoga signed a free-agent contract with the Washington Redskins on Saturday, the University of Hawai‘i announced on its Facebook page.
Meatoga, a four-year starting defensive lineman for the Warriors, was hoping to hear his name called in the three-day NFL Draft, which concluded on Saturday, but when it wasn’t he moved forward and signed to play in the Nation’s capital.
The former Kalaheo resident completed his senior as a Warrior with 38 tackles and three sacks.
