Steve Kline of the Occupational Therapy department at the Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital had a lot of people trying out the different adaptive equipment to make their sundaes Friday. He’ll have more fun, Monday when he hosts wheelchair races and an evening discussion where Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. is expected to present a proclamation celebrating April as National Occupational Therapy month.
Jocelyn Barriga and Maxine Torres were a couple of sundae fans trying out the equipment (it’s not that easy to make a sundae with your non-dominant arm).
Jocelyn will be at the YMCA pool today for the Kaua‘i Special Olympics swim meet.
There are a lot of things going on — Pat Viernes will be doing the Mayor’s track and field event for Kaua‘i’s keiki and don’t forget the KIF baseball playoff at Hanapepe Stadium starting at 1 p.m.
Charlmaine Bulosan and Michelle Lizama will have the 2012 Miss Kaua‘i Filipina contestants (five from Kaua‘i High, three from Kapa‘a and one from UH) at the fashion show at Kukui Grove from noon to 2 p.m.
