Malama Na ‘Apapa is hosting an Earth Day cleanup at Koloa Landing from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday.
Scott Bacon, director of Malama Na ‘Apapa, said the organization does in-water Scuba reef cleanups and also a shoreline cleanup at Koloa Landing.
All Scuba divers will need to have their certification card and bring their own Scuba gear if prior arrangements with Bacon of Kaua‘i Down Under have not been made. Divers will meet at 8 a.m. for gear setup and pre-dive briefing.
Shoreline cleanup volunteers can arrive at any time during the cleanup. Volunteers are asked to bring their own reusable water bottles, sun screen, hats, sunglasses and non-slip shoes.
Malama Na ‘Apapa will provide debris containers, shore gloves, water and refreshments.
A pot luck lunch is scheduled at noon.
Bacon said Scuba shops such as Kaua‘i Down Under, Sea Sport Divers and Fathom Five are sponsoring the event and contributing prize giveaways that include a waterproof camera and dive trips to Ni‘ihau.
