PANAMA — Day one of the Dakine ISA Work Junior Surfing Championship Presented by Billabong offered up fun one- to three-foot surf for members of the Hawai‘i Surf Team in Playa Venao, Panama.
Kaua‘i’s Koa Smith led the charge for Team Hawai‘i in the Boys Under 18 division along with fellow Kaua`i surfer Kaoli Kahokuloa and was named one of the day’s “Verizon Performer Of The Day.”
Maui’s Kain Daly surfed away with a win to advance to Round 2, and Oahu’s Kalani David boosted his way into Round 2 of the Boys Under 16 division with the Moniz brothers Seth and Josh following suit. Kalani like Kaoli was chosen for the Verizon Performer Of The Day for his standout performance.
