Caylee Balbarino and Sariah Ijima were happy campers in spite of being replaced by Rotarian Liz Hahn as the voice of track on Thursday when the Rotary Club of West Kaua‘i handled the track duties. Caylee and Sariah were both waiting on the bento…they seem to know where all the good food is because they were babysitting rabbits and chicks Sunday at the Courtyard by Marriott at Coconut Beach.
Rotary president Judith Rivera (she says the ‘Rivera’ really neat) said the meet was her first one, while Dave Walker said he remembers Mike Faye being at the meets with his dad when track was held in Kekaha.
Kudos to president Rivera and all the Rotarians who did a great job! Coach Basil Scott could breathe easier because there were no photo finishes this time.
Caylee and Sariah were not the only ones displaced as Coach Marlo Louis-Medeiros was pacing the stands and “Coach” Leonard Vegas (he had a ringside seat where he could munch on sunflower seeds) is still waiting on the release of the Pyranaconda movie.
