Agnes Chung
Agnes Kam Lan Chung of Anahola died at Garden Isle Health Care on March 29, 2012, at the age of 90. She was born in Wainiha on Dec. 15, 1921, and retired as the head custodian of Hanalei Elementary School.
She is survived by her son, David “China” Haumea; seven grandchildren, Kervin (Lloydeen) Peters, Tammie (Wesley) Haraguchi, Dodie (Rudy) Haumea, Erwin Haumea, David (Ilissa) Haumea, Junedale Hashimoto, Jodi Hashimoto; hanai daughter, Jade Haunani (Gary Pacheco); sister, Verdelle Lum ; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 7, at Wai‘oli Hui‘ia Church in Hanalei, with visitation from 9 a.m. and services celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Hanalei Cemetery.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Chung family with arrangements.

Dorothy Amaral Carvalho of Lihu‘e died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on April 3, 2012, at the age of 78. She was born in Lihu‘e on June 2, 1933, and retired from Lihu‘e Sugar Plantation office.
She was preceded in death by her father, John, and brother, Gilbert.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Carvalho; mother, Leonora Shies; sister, Eleanor (Bill) Kennedy; brothers, Charles (Dalia) Amaral and Robert (Jonell) Amaral; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, April 11, at Immaculate Conception Church, with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens.
Family suggests casual attire.

Platon Fermin
Platon Medina Fermin of Kalaheo, Kaua‘i, died on April 3, 2012, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 100. Born on March 8, 1912, in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a retired seed cutter with McBryde Sugar Co.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lourdes M. Fermin; daughter, Elisa Fermin; and brother, Playton Fermin of Wai‘anae.
He is survived by two sons, Vicente (Corine) Fermin of Kalaheo and Wilbert (Fe) Fermin of Wai‘anae; and a brother, Will Fermin of Wai‘anae.
Services will be held on April 14 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Kalaheo. Visitation is from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Mass to begin at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
The family suggests casual attire.
