LIHU‘E — The Hawai‘i State Chapter of the American Red Cross will be continuing its annual Hats Off event today and Sunday. The event began Friday.
Off-duty firefighters, military, Lions Clubs, and other volunteers will take their hats off and ask the public to fill the hats with donations for the Red Cross.
“Because we are not a government agency, we rely on the generosity and aloha from the people in Kaua‘i County to provide these critical services for our community,” Red Cross CEO Coralie Matayoshi said in a press release.
Volunteers will continue collecting donations today and Sunday at Walmart.
The larger event will be held today, with volunteers also collecting donations at Princeville Foodland and Kapa‘a Safeway.
