Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative this morning reports that — following Wednesday’s power outage — the Kapaia Power Station is back online, and power has been fully restored.
KIUC reports that the Kapaia Power Station, KIUC’s largest generator, was brought back online at 1:14 a.m. after KIUC’s crews worked through the night.
The temporary power outage caused by transformer equipment failure caused an island-wise power outage beginning shortly after the equipment failed at about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday. Three hours later, the lights came back on for two-thirds of the island. KIUC this morning reports that power was fully restored at 10:32 p.m. Wednesday.
“KIUC thanks everyone for their cooperation and patience while we restored power to the island,” KIUC states.
