Harvey Kinoshita got the special treatment during his retirement party Saturday night. Joann Parongao of Tsunami Taiko unveiled the Chinese lion (Can we have Chinese New Year now?) at Harvey’s retirement party, the lion being managed by Noah Penner and Sean Dela Cruz.
Ron Garlie did a great job emcee-ing the event, and even Janice Bond made it a pointato take in the festivities.
Hats off to Warren Perry and the Royal Order of Kamehameha on another great Prince Kuhio celebratio.
Mayor Bernard Carvalho Jr. had opening ceremonies for baseball and still made it to the ceremony where his “team” of department heads were all coordinated in red, and their mele ho‘okupu was stunning.
Mike Teruya (he got to do the release of the endangered birds in Koke‘e) said it was a while since he did the Prince Kuhio celebration, but because rain threatened Koke‘e, he came to Po‘ipu.
Happy Prince Kuhio Day, Kaua‘i! Stay safe!
