PO‘IPU — The Kaua‘i Police Department responded to a reported bomb threat Sunday at Brennecke’s Beach Broiler. Dispatch alerted police that Brennecke’s management reported that someone had phoned in a bomb threat to the Po‘ipu restaurant just after 2 p.m.
PO‘IPU — The Kaua‘i Police Department responded to a reported bomb threat Sunday at Brennecke’s Beach Broiler.
Dispatch alerted police that Brennecke’s management reported that someone had phoned in a bomb threat to the Po‘ipu restaurant just after 2 p.m.
An employee of the restaurant said by phone that customers were evacuated for about 30 minutes.
Management was not available for comment, the employee said.
Kaua‘i County spokeswoman Mary Daubert said a caller with a blocked telephone number reportedly called and told an employee that a bomb had been placed in the restaurant.
Police made a thorough search of the premises and found no suspicious items, Daubert said.
The restaurant was cleared for re-entry at approximately 2:45 p.m.
Police are attempting to trace the suspicious call. There are currently no suspects.
