Clarence Luczon
Clarence N. Luczon of Kalaheo passed away March 4, 2012, at the age of 41. Born on February 26, 1971, in Lihu‘e, Kaua‘i, he was previously employed at King Auto Center.
He was preceded in death by Clarence K. Luczon Jr.
He is survived by his parents, Julian (Vivianna) Luczon Sr.; daughters, Ashlyn Luczon, Chanlyn Luzcon; fiancée, Pua Vidinha; brothers, Julian Luczon Jr., Norman (Nora) Luczon; sisters, Lorna (Michael) Navarro, Angela (Rueben) Luczon; one grandchild, numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Celebration of life Saturday March 31, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary. Visitation at 9:30 a.m. Service at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa, Kaua‘i.
Cayetana Taroma
Cayetana G. Taroma of Kekaha, Kaua‘i, passed away on March 9, 2012, at Kaua‘i Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. Born on August 6, 1921, in the Philippines, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Rufino Taroma; daughters, Teresita (Villamor) Balisacan Sr., Nenita (Godofredo) Alegre, Elena (Robert) Dadufalza, Elisa (Efren) Pascua, Nora (Eugene) Baptista, Ofelia (Ray) Martin, Grace (Villamor) Ganiron; sons, Orlando (Concepcion) Taroma, Roger (Fely) Taroma; 22 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; sister, Magdalena Gasidan.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday March 23, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and again on Saturday, March 24, at St. Theresa’s Church in Kekaha from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Kekaha Public Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Gladys Niitani
Gladys Torigoe Niitani of ‘Ele‘ele died on Jan. 13, 2012, at the age of 79. Born on Nov. 13, 1932, she was a retired clerk with Kaua‘i Electric.
She is survived by her husband; Walter Niitani of ‘Ele‘ele; one son; Mark (Leimomi) Niitani of ‘Ele‘ele, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers; Wally (Ruth) Torigoe, and Francis (Bernice) Torigoe, and one sister Elaine (Charles) O’Connell.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday March 24, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in ‘Ele‘ele, Visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Service to begin at 11 a.m. The family suggests casual attire and requests that flowers be omitted.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary Ltd.
Herbert Chung
Herbert “Yobo” Chung of Lihu‘e died Feb. 22, 2012, at Kaua‘i Hospice at the age of 84. He was born in Honolulu on July 9, 1927. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Global Associates in Kwajalein.
He is survived by five sons, Herbert A., Michael (Lorraine) A, Richard A., Edwin (Carol) D, Louis (Kehau) K; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the Chung family with arrangements.
Justo Vicente
Justo Vicente of Hanapepe passed away at his home in Hanapepe on March 15, 2012, at the age of 87. Born on July 22, 1924, in the Philippines, he was a retired supervisor for Kaua‘i Electric.
He is survived by his daughters, Nina (Romeo) Ramelb and Lynn (Nick) Abramo; son, Kenneth (Ana Lissa) Vicente; six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday March 28, at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., where Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Lihu‘e Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary.
Eugene Brennan
Eugene A. “Gene” Brennan of Syracuse, N.Y., died March 14, 2012, at his home in Kalaheo. Born on Oct. 10, 1919, in Syracuse, he graduated from Syracuse University, Class of 1942. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. In the FBI (1947 to 1976), he was assigned to the Omaha, Philadelphia, Springfield, WFO offices and FBI Headquarters.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy.
He is survived by his wife Lauren; son, Tim of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; stepson, Cliff Heen of Honolulu; daughter, Keavy of Honolulu; granddaughter, Julie and great grandson, Riley, of Lyons, Colo.
Memorial services will be held at Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo on March 19. Visitation begins at 3 p.m. followed by Mass at 4 p.m. Family requests casual attire and no flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary assisted the Brennan family with arrangements.
Andrew Einck
Andrew Cullen Einck died peacefully in his sleep on March 7, 2012. Born Sept. 20, 1992, on the island of Kaua‘i, he was a long-time resident of Hawai‘i. He moved to the Mainland after suffering a debilitating accident in December 2008.
He is survived by his parents, Emma Quinn and John Einck; grandparents, Richard Einck and Barbara C. Quinn; aunts, Kathleen Slevin, Barbara McBride, Cydney Einck and Stacy Eckberg; uncle, William C. Quinn; and numerous cousins and friends.
Services will be held on Kaua‘i in the near future.
