The public is invited to a free showing of “Our Nobler Selves,” a video tribute to Maui’s Nissei soldiers who served in segregated units of the U.S. Army during World War II.
The film, created by and for the Nissei Veterans Memorial Center in Kahului, Maui, will be aired at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center in Lihu‘e from 4 to 6 p.m. on April 14. Refreshments will be provided.
Organizers said there is no admission charge for the viewing, but because space is limited, they would appreciate knowing how many people are planning to attend.
The deadline to reply is April 9 by calling Susan Honjiyo of the West Kaua‘i Club 100 at 822-0502, or email shonjiyo@hawaii.rr.com, Judi Murakami of the Kaua‘i 442nd Veteran’s Club at 332-7936, or email kauaibeagles@yahoo.com, or Norman Hashisaka of the Military Intelligence Service Veteran’s Club at 332-8356, or email nhashisaka@aol.com.
