Larry Rivera had a picture of Elvis chomping on a nice tilapia Sunday at the East Kaua‘i Lions Club pancake breakfast (The Harvey and Sandy Kinoshita miso soup really hit the spot.).
Elvis is an auku‘u which adopted Larry, who shows up with rice to attract fish which Elvis snatches and eats.
Lion Kelvin Moniz said they got some help from the Tropic Care Kaua‘i troops because the EK Lions having been volunteering at the site and take the troops to wherever they need to go.
Maj. Daniel Toocheck from McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey was one of those troops, getting to meet Bev Pang, vice principal for Kapa‘a Middle School and Bev’s “eye doctor,” at the breakfast.
U.S. Navy Capt. Jeff Garcia of California said he is a Lion and made sure he was not going to miss the breakfast, and mahalo to Stephen Fujii for getting the totals out in a timely fashion.
Clyde and Helena Kodani were able to get in breakfast before Helena had to go off to work (in the rain).
