The Tropic Care Kaua‘i clinics will open at its three sites until Friday — the final three days Kaua‘i people can receive free health care services.
Following a shortened Tuesday schedule, when the 400 deployed personnel were honored, the clinics will open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. today and Thursday.
Tommy Noyes of the Kaua‘i District Health Office suggested people visiting the clinics in the final three days arrive early because clinics will stop admitting new participants.
On Friday, the final day of Tropic Care Kaua‘i 2012, the clinics will cease operations at noon. Participants are advised to arrive at the clinic sites before 10 a.m. to receive services by noon.
Additionally, dental services at all clinics will be limited to cleanings and dental examinations. The full range of optometry services will be offered at all clinics for the entire clinic schedule, including vision tests to make eyeglasses.
Participants will be informed about when and where they can later pick up their finished eyeglasses. Following the final Tropic Care clinic, the Department of Health will distribute the glasses from sites to be announced.
Since opening last Tuesday, military reservists deployed to Kaua‘i as part of a training exercise have provided free health care services to almost 5,000 participants, Noyes said.
Despite storms and heavy rains in recent days, the clinics stayed open, providing health care on a first come, first serve basis.
People can visit the free Tropic Care Kaua‘i clinics at All Saints Episcopal Church in Kapa‘a, Kaua‘i Community College and the Kaua‘i Soto Zen Temple Zenshuji in Hanapepe.
