WAIPOULI — Kaua‘i United Way Executive Director Scott Giarman is pleased with the success of the nonprofit’s fundraising drive as it approaches the home stretch.
“I think we’re about $5,000 away from making our annual campaign goal,” Giarman said Thursday night at Oasis on the Beach, which contributed a portion of proceeds from meals served toward the campaign.
Ron Wiley, co-chair of the Kaua‘i United Way Annual Campaign, said Kaua‘i has until Wednesday to come up with an additional $5,000 to put the campaign over the top.
“We can do it,” he said. “We need some last-minute contributions, and if a lot of people dig into their pockets, the amount is not that much.”
Kaua‘i Community College professional massage therapy students on Saturday hosted massages at the entrance to Macy’s at Kukui Grove Center on Saturday to benefit the fundraising drive.
Kaua‘i United Way supports a broad spectrum of social service organizations as an umbrella for 28 participating agencies, and funds raised on Kaua‘i stay on the island, Giarman said.
