HONOLULU — The Kapa‘a Warriors’ quest for a boys basketball state championship will have to become a sprint for fifth.
Unable to keep pace in the second half, the Warriors dropped their opening round game against the unseeded McKinley Tigers, 77-69, Thursday night in Honolulu.
With the loss, the Warriors will now play the loser of the Hawai‘i Prep/Hanalani game that was completed after The Garden Island went to press. Kapa‘a will take the court tonight at 7 in the semifinals of the consolation bracket. If Kapa‘a can win its next two games, the Warriors will take the fifth place overall finish.
