Tyler Shiramizu and Shane Nishioka-Healy of the Kapa‘a Warriors were named to the Division II All-Tournament team, Wes Nakama of the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association said Monday.
Nishioka-Healy, the starting goalkeeper for Kapa‘a, was replaced in the final nine minutes of play in the Outrigger Hotels & Resort/HHSAA Boys Soccer State Championships on Saturday, taking a forward position in an attempt by Kapa‘a to force their title game against Honoka‘a into a shootout, at best. Nishioka-Healy was named as goalkeeper on the Division II all-tournament squad.
Shiramizu, more familiar to Kaua‘i soccer fans as “Ty,” holding firm as the defender for Kapa‘a, was joined by Alden Aguirre of Honoka‘a as defender on the all-tourney squad.
Robert Conners of Honoka‘a, one of four Dragons selected to the all-tourney team, was selected as the Most Outstanding Player for Division II after Honoka‘a repeated as Division II champions following a 1-0 edge over the tenacious Kapa‘a squad coached by Kevin Cram.
Others making the Division II all-tourney team include Kekahu Aluli (Kahuku, F), Nakaya Kerr (Christian Liberty, F), Elijah Lingenfelder (Makua Lani, F), Justin Warren (Honoka‘a, F), Conners (Honoka‘a, M), John Hyland (Mid-Pacific, M), Chayce Moniz (Honoka‘a, M) and Florian Steundel (Kahuku, M).
