The Kapa‘a High School boys basketball team will make its bid for the Hawaiian Airlines Boys Division I and II state basketball championship Thursday afternoon at the Kaimuki High School gym on O‘ahu.
Seeded No. 3 in Division II, the Warriors will open against the McKinley High School Tigers in the quarterfinals of the state championship series, states an announcement Sunday by Natalie Iwamoto, director of information for the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association on O‘ahu.
Kalaheo (15-2) earned the top seed in Division II, followed by the Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy (9-3) getting the second seed. St. Francis (11-1) was named the fourth seed for Division II.
Punahou draws the top seed for Division I, opening its Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association title bid Thursday night at McKinley High School gym.
The Kahuku Red Raiders drew the second seed, followed by Kamehameha Schools-Big Island getting the third seed and Baldwin High School of the Maui Interscholastic League getting the No. 4 seed.
Kapa‘a, the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation champions, sports a 12-1 record and is joined by Hanalani (12-2), Kohala (8-5) and Seabury Hall (6-0) in the Division II field.
The championship game for Division II will play Saturday at the Neal Blaidell Center starting at 5 p.m., followed by the Division I championship game at 7 p.m.
