An ‘Oma‘o man shot by Kaua‘i police after resisting arrrest died at a Honolulu hospital early this morning, according to a statement released by the Kaua‘i Police Department.
The statement emailed to The Garden Island News said suspect Richard “Dickie” Louis, 62, was transported to Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu late last night after being treated for a gunshot wound earlier Wednesday night at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihu‘e. Louis died shortly after midnight, the statement said.
The Kaua‘i Police Department reported Wednesday evening that the shooting occurred when police arrived at a home on Pun‘e Road in ‘Oma‘o Wednesday afternoon and the suspect resisted arrest.
