LIHU‘E — Flanked by Ron Wiley and The Garden Island Sports Editor Tyson Alger, Susan Pittman of Lihu‘e happily accepted her Vegas vacation package for two on Wednesday morning at the KQNG studios in Lihu‘e.
Pittman, a weekly entrant in The Garden Island’s Football Frenzy contest, had her name drawn from a pile of other winners by Alger Tuesday evening. The win nets Pittman a all-expense paid vacation to Las Vegas provided by KQNG.
“I’m going to bring the whole family,” a giddy Pittman said over the airwaves. “I’m so excited.”
The Football Frenzy is a weekly contest put on by The Garden Island that has readers predict the outcome of various professional and college football games. Each week, readers get to see how their scores matched up against the Frenzy’s panelists.
This year “Anahola” Joel Pahukula of H. Hawai‘i Media took home the Frenzy crown for overall record. Pahukula edged out Jason Fujinaka of FM 97 with a total score of 228-109. That score was seven picks better than Fujinaka’s record of 221-116. The Garden Island’s Alger finished third with a record of 215-122, while ESPN’s Neil Everett and KQNG’s Wiley tied for fourth with a final tally of 202-135.
