Briggs Agu scored a game-high 24 points but Westside Basketball came up short, 45-36, over Lepo Ula Tuesday night at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
Kamea Alquiza, the Lepo Ula tall man, finished with 16 points to lead the victory, followed by Kicah Acoba adding seven and Levi Sagucio tucking in six points.
Following Agu, Reymund Mendoza added eight points and Kasen Castro finished with four points.
Mark Lacierna netted 16 points, Nate Herbig added 14, Lester Acojido and Lanakila Wilson each pocketed a dozen marks and Kaone Miguel finished with 10 points to lead Team Central B to a 70-28 showing over Team Lihu‘e in the second of two county youth winter basketball league for boys in grades 6 through 8.
Jhay Karl Dante topped the Team Lihu‘e showing with 10 points, followed by Inoke Lautej with eight points and Tajh Mapuhi with five.
This was a make-up game of an earlier scheduled match which had to be postponed.
Karen Matsumoto of the Kaua‘i Youth Basketball Association, helping with the officials’ table and floor officials, said there are two more outings scheduled — one Thursday night and a final one Saturday morning.
The Kaua‘i Ballers take on Papalina-Blue starting at 6 p.m. at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center, Thursday.
Team Central A goes up against Hanakila in the second game starting at 7 p.m.
Papalina-Orange opens the Saturday action against Team Lihu‘e at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center starting at 9 a.m.
They will be followed by the Kaua‘i Ballers closing the season against Lepo Ula starting at 10 a.m.
