Do you have stories about Kaua‘i that you want published but don’t know how, when or where? Writer and editor Pamela Brown is offering people a chance to share their stories in the upcoming book, “Voices of Kaua‘i.”
“I am writing a book, ‘Voices of Kaua‘i,’ a collection of stories that paint pictures of life on our island in Kaua‘i people’s words,” Brown says in a news release.
“This book will bring a lively understanding of Kaua‘i to our visitors, people who have moved here recently and also those of us who have lived here many years.”
Topics include: Growing up on Kaua‘i, why I love the ocean, what hula means to me, how Hawaiian culture helps my life, music of Kaua‘i, plantation life, mystical experiences on Kaua‘i, Mount Wai’ale’ale stories, and sailing on voyaging canoes.
“You don’t have to be a writer to contribute,” Brown says. “Just tell your story in your own words. I will edit if needed.”
For submission guidelines and a sampling of the stories that will be in the book, visit www.voicesofkauai.com and click on the Share Your Stories tab.
The submission deadline is March 21.
