Sixteen of Hawai‘i’s high school softball teams will converge at the Hanapepe Stadium complex for the 2012 Waimea High School Softball Invitational Tournament Feb. 23 through Feb. 25.
The public is invited to view the competition at the tournament, which previews the 2012 Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation softball season. The season starts March 7 when Kaua‘i travels to Waimea Canyon Park for a single game starting at 5:30 p.m.
All three of Kaua‘i’s public high schools will be playing in the tournament which starts with pool play at 10 a.m. on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24.
Elimination rounds start at 8:30 a.m. Feb. 25, with Division II and tournament title games played at 3:30 p.m.
Host Waimea High School will play a double-header Feb. 23 against Kaiser High School at 1:30 p.m. and Kamehameha-Maui at 3:15 p.m. in the Blue Pool. Pac-Five is the fourth team in the pool
The Kaua‘i Red Raiders, playing in the Red Pool, will also be involved in a double-header Feb. 23 against Moanalua starting at 11:45 a.m. and against Waialua starting at 3:15 p.m. The Mid-Pacific Institute is the fourth team in the Red Pool.
The Kapa‘a High School Warriors, playing in the Green Pool, will open against Kamehameha-Big Island starting at 11:45 a.m. and against Leilehua starting at 3:15 p.m. Iolani is the fourth team in the Green Pool.
The fourth pool, the Orange Pool, will feature Mililani, Maryknoll, Lahainaluna and Kalaheo high schools.
There is no admission charge to view the tournament, which will play on four fields at the Hanapepe Stadium complex.
