The Kapa‘a High School boys soccer team earned the No. 2 seed in the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II state championships.
Natalie Iwamoto, the HHSAA director of information, made the announcement Sunday for the eight-team Division II playoffs that start Thursday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex on O‘ahu.
Kapa‘a, finishing 9-1-2 in the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation, will open against Makua Lani starting at 3 p.m.
The top-seeded Honoka‘a Dragons will open against Castle High School and Kahuku, the No. 3 seed in Division II, will face Christian Liberty. Seabury Hall, the No. 4 seed, will open against Mid Pacific Institute.
Mililani High School earns the top seed in Division I, followed by Punahou getting the No. 2 seed. Baldwin High School of the Maui Interscholastic League is the No. 3 seed, and Kealakehe of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation is the No. 4 seed.
Play for the 12-team Division I opens Wednesday, also at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.
Championships will be on Saturday, with the Division II title game starting at 5 p.m. followed by the Division I championship starting at 7 p.m.
