HONOLULU — The Kaua‘i Red Raiders’ charge through the 36th Annual Hawaiian Airlines/Hawai’i High School Athletic Association Girls Basketball State Championships may have ended in the title game, but the run to the championship didn’t come without some accolades.
Kaua‘i senior Kristle Henry was named to the Division II All-Tournament Team. Henry, the sole Red Raider representative, was joined by Casey and Chelsea Poe from Kamehameha-Hawai‘i, Ashlee DeSantos of Maryknoll and Sarah Liva of Hanalani.
Henry had an explosive run through the tournament. In the Red Raiders’ opening win against Honoka‘a, Henry had 24 points and followed that with a team-high 17 in a semifinal victory over Hawai‘i Prepatory Academy.
In Kaua‘i’s championship game loss to Kamehameha, Henry fought foul trouble early, but still managed seven points and six rebounds.
