Ken Ragsdale used to be one of those visitors from the Mainland who frequented the Kapa‘a High School basketball games. He was with Bob Switzener of Canada who used to have a radio show, “The Canadian Gardner,” Wednesday during the Fifth Annual Spam Party at the Mokihana of Kaua‘i.
Kudos and congratulations to Sherri Green, Barb Bowman (she never had Spam until the contest), and Pat Hyatt (her daughter came in special for the party, but missed the “Red Solo Cup” opening) for pulling this together. This year, the party must have been at least double last year’s event — imagine all those people singing “Red Solo Cup!”
All of that was inspired by Gary and Sally Williams of McMinnville, Oregon, whose clothespin people in the centerpiece were toting red Solo cups around a Spam can table.
Ka‘eo Kinoshita was the Kaua‘i fireman who snapped the photo of the Kaua‘i Fire Department helicopter during the rescue of 37 people earlier this week.
Ka‘eo and his crew were helping Ann Akama, Carolyn Lum and Joy Kouchi set up for the Friends of the Lihu‘e Public Library Spring Used Book Sale which wraps up today at 4 p.m.
