The Kaua‘i High School girls basketball team earned the No. 4 seeding in the Hawaiian Airlines Girls Basketball State Championships, Division II that starts Tuesday on O‘ahu.
The announcement was made Sunday by the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association, host of the state tournament.
With the seeding, the Red Raider girls, earning the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation title following a post-season two-game playoff series against Waimea High School last week, will enjoy a bye on opening night. They will take the floor at 5 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of Seabury Hall and Honoka‘a at Radford High School.
Top seed in Division II is Radford High School, which will host the opening through semifinals of the division.
Kamehameha Schools-Big Island is the No. 2 seed and will open Wednesday at Kalani High School against the winner of the Kalani and Hawai‘i Baptist matchup.
Maryknoll High School draws the No. 3 seed in Division II and will face the winner of the McKinley and Hanalani game at Kalani in the 7 p.m. Wednesday nightcap.
Konawaena of the Big Island Interscholastic Federation earns the top seed for Division I with ‘Iolani getting the No. 2 seed, Lahainaluna of the Maui Interscholastic League drawing the No. 3 seed and Pearl City getting the No. 4 seed.
The state girls basketball championships continue through Friday. The semifinals and title matches will be played at Neal Blaisdell Center on O‘ahu.
