Dr. Robert Zelkovsky was a happy camper Sunday when about two dozen volunteers from Surfrider Kaua‘i and Friends of Kamalani and Lydgate Park turned out to help get rid of two large chunks of marine netting from the beach along the fishing access road.
Thomas Noyes’ Honda Ridgeline was getting a workout, having Steve Soltysik rig up a length of rope to the truck so the people had extra muscle power.
Larry Richardson of the Sea Scout program was there because the situation involved the sea, and Steve said the Island School students will be hosting a beach clean-up in a few weeks.
This is the week for Lorna Santos, coach Neil Pigao and The Lawai Cannery Self Storage Center crew to open its 2012 calendar of garage sales. This Sunday’s event will benefit the keiki and High School Rodeo program. Interested vendors can call Lorna at 332-5929 to see if there’s still room.
Now it’s time to go check out some soccer and the final playoff game for the KIF boys basketball first-round title.
