People on Kaua‘i will have an opportunity to work out with Karina Smirnoff, the reigning dance champion from ABC-TV’s “Dancing with the Stars, Season 13,” Thursday at the Kaua‘i Marriott Resort and Beach Club in Nawiliwili.
Smirnoff will be stopping on Kaua‘i for the first of her DanceFit sessions from 9 to 10 a.m.
Her Hawai‘i tour will run through Feb. 2 with classes being offered at Marriott resorts on Kaua‘i, the Big Island, Maui and O‘ahu.
“We are thrilled to welcome Karina to Hawai‘i and Marriott, where resort guests and island residents alike will no doubt get a great physical workout with the dance pro,” Chris Tatus, vice president of Marriott International’s Hawai’i, Pacific Northwest, Northern California and Utah divisions, stated in a news release.
There is a registration fee of $30 per person for the 55-minute class with a portion of the sales benefiting the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank.
A valid kama‘aina identification will be required on checking in.
During the session, which will be held at the hotel’s Ni‘ihau Court, Smirnoff will lead a 55-minute fitness class at the Kaua‘i Marriott.
The class will include timeto meet the star following the session.
“I’m so excited to be able to share DanceFIT with Hawai‘i,” Smirnoff said in the release.
“It’s a great program, perfect workout, fun time and amazing results. Let’s get 2012 off to a great start!”
For kama‘aina interested in staying at the resort, Marriott is offering a combination room-and-fitness class package for $199, or $30 for the DanceFIT ticket. Smirnoff has been on prime time television for the past six years as one of the professional dancers on ABC’s program, “Dancing with the Stars.”
She is the reigning champion, winning Season 13 with her celebrity partner, J.R. Martinez.
In December 2010, she released her first fitness DVD, “Shape Up with Karina Smirnoff.”
Smirnoff introduced the Karina Collection of boots with Bearpaw Shoes in January 2011.
She also joined forces with Girlactik Beauty to partner on a Karina brand of cosmetics.
