PRINCEVILLE — The Sunrise/Sunset Bridge Club on Saturday honored some of its top players Saturday at the club’s annual awards luncheon in Princeville.
Judy Smith was named the winner for 2011 of the Lolita Horney Trophy, which was donated to the club by member Loring E. Harkness III and named for the founder and long-time anchor of the club, the bridge club announced.
The Lolita Horney Trophy is awarded each year to the bridge player who wins the largest number of master points awarded by the American Contract Bridge League for play at the club.
Past winners of the Lolita Trophy were Rob Van Ekeren in 2007, Robert Smith in 2008 and Loring Harkness in 2009 and again in 2010.
Charlie Herbert and Lolita Horney were named winners for 2011 of the club’s Richard T. Shen Trophy.
The Richard T. Shen Trophy was donated to the bridge club by Dr. Dileep G. Bal and dedicated to the memory of his bridge partner and friend.
Each year, the trophy is awarded to the bridge player or partnership whose improvement best exemplifies Richard T. Shen’s commitment to teaching and learning and whose deportment is most reminiscent of his” unfailing grace and civility at the bridge table,” the bridge club said in a news release.
The Sunrise Club plays at 9 a.m. each Thursday (open game) at the Princeville Community Association Building.

pairs game were: Robert Smith and Judy Smith, first.
Tied for second and third place were Charlie Herbert and Lolita Horney, and Joe McKenney and Pam
McKenney.
The Sunset Club plays at 1 p.m. each Saturday (open game) at the Princeville Community Association Building,.
Results for Saturday’s pairs game for North-South were Robert Smith and Judy Smith in first place, and Francine Donahue and Kristine Katz in second place.
For East-West, Ron Carswell and Helen Scott won first place, with Lenda Helser and Marjorie Gifford in second place.
