KAPA‘A — At approximately 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Kaua‘i Police Department’s dispatch office received reports of gunfire heard at a home on Kawaihau Road in the vicinity of Kapahi Park.
Officers, the department’s SWAT team and crisis negotiators responded to the scene and closed Kawaihau Road at Ka‘apuni Road.
The suspect, Kevin Christian, age 40, was located in the yard of his home firing off multiple rounds from a rifle, a county news release states. No others were in the home at the time police responded.
Christian surrendered to authorities at 12:06 a.m. Friday.
No injuries were reported.
Police are now reopening Kawaihau Road.
