Troy Lazaro was in his element decorating the lobby of the Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club. Christina Gabriel said people are welcome to stop by, admire the decorations and bid on special Christmas trees created by Troy to benefit The Children’s Miracle Network.
Christina was helping Cathy Veatch, Jolene Ogle and Lani Aranio with the annual Christmas stocking decorating contest which benefited the Kaua‘i Economic Opportunity and the Prison Ministries programs.
Ed Kawamura made the trip to Waimea for the 17th Waimea Lighted Christmas Parade, Saturday.
With Christmas falling on Sunday, Ed said they’ll use the Monday holiday to make mochi for the New Year’s.
Speaking of which, Joni Taba, Gerald Ako and the HGEA spent the weekend creating kadomatsu pieces for sale starting this Monday. The traditional New Year’s piece benefits their scholarship fund.
Earl Miyao (he and Ralph Suniga were filling in for Ross Shimabukuro who was at an athletic directors conference) said they actually started on Wednesday with the cutting of the bamboo.
