Kaua‘i native Mariko Strickland will be joined by a host of professional soccer players and instructors during the Kyle Nakazawa Soccer Hawai‘i soccer camp, Dec. 20 through 22 at the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Sports Park in Wailua.
Camp options are either a half day, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or full day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Kaua‘i youth who will be instructed by some top professional and college soccer players.
The rate is $90 for the half day camp for all three days and the full day rate is $130 for all three days.
Strickland, from Anahola and a soccer standout at San Diego State and Long Beach State, will be joined by Nakazawa, the director of the camp and a UCLA All-American and a member of the Major League Soccer Philadelphia Union.
Natasha Kai, known for her work with the University of Hawai‘i soccer program as well as the USA Women’s National Team and the WPS Philadelphia Independence is from Kahuku, O‘ahu and will be joined by David Estrada, a UCLA All-Pac 10 and with the MLS Seattle Sounders, Lauren Barnes, a UCLA All-American and WPS Philadelphia Independence, and Trevor Hunter, a UCLA goalkeeper from 2006 through 2010, will head up goal keeper training.
